Legal Question in Family Law in California

Help please ?

I am 26 years old and my biological father wants to be added to my birth certificate. Do we need an attorny and do we need a signature from mother ? Also do we need a praternity test conducted ? I have been on the phone with Los Angeles county and I cant seem to get an answer . I haven't had contact with my mother for a few years now and do not know if she will cooperate in this matter . please help ... Thank you

In order for your father to be added to the birth certificate (which is done by the State of California) you will probably require a judgment of paternity, which is fairly easy to get. Courts hand them out like candy. I had one case where the court kept adding on fathers for the child. You could also try a voluntary declaration of paternity and see if the State will give you a name change on the birth certificate--but I doubt it.
