Legal Question in Family Law in California

Hi. I'm 20 years old and my parents are threatening to kick me out. I'm fine with that, I WANT to move out. But I only ask for 30 days to be able to find somewhere to live and save my next paychecks so I can be ready to move out. It is legal for them to just kick me out without any notice?? I live in California if that makes any difference...

Wow, you are lucky. I was out of my parent's house a month after I turned 18.

I got a month and a half, and 48 hours notice. To answer your question, unless you have been paying rent they have no obligation to give you any notice. If you have been paying rent, they have to give you 30-days notice. In either case, however, unless they are renting to more than one boarder, they do not have to remove you by court action. You would be a trespasser either immediately or when the 30 days is up, depending on which amount of notice applies.
