Legal Question in Family Law in California

17yo and 14yo

Is it ok for a 17 yo boy to date a 14yo girl, if both love each other and are still in high school. she is a freshman and he is a junior. Mom says its ok but i still have Q's about it. What should i do.

If by dating you mean taking her to the movies etc, and no sex there does not appeart be any thing illegal involved. She cannot legally consent to having sex. Even if no criminal charges are filed being a father at 17 and a mother at 14 is very difficult and robs you and her of your youth. I have a client that fathered a child when he was 15 and she was 14. Both of them are very unhappy because their parents are still their guardians and have control over them. This has resulted in many conflicts. Neither of you need these problems.
