Legal Question in Family Law in California

My 20 yr. old son and then girlfriend got pregnant and she refused to consider either adoption or abortion. She instead fled the state (Ca.) and moved to Wisconson to be with her mother during the pregnancy. She is due to deliver in April, 2010. What legal obligations does my son face at this point?

You need to re-post this question to Wisconsin attorneys. When the child is born in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin courts and Wisconsin law will have jurisdiction over the child and the parental rights and obligations. Only if the mother returns to California for at least six months without initiating any legal proceedings in Wisconsin, would California courts and law apply.
