Abusive parents have little chance of getting custody. The lack of income will not be the deciding factor in the custody dispute. If you have not documented the abusive conduct then start now. If you are unfortunate to be hit call the police immediately and report his conduct. Most communities have a domestic violence help center. This organization can help you get a domestic violence restraining order against him.
