Legal Question in Family Law in California
Addtional Card Holder
I divorced my husband a while ago. I was an additonal cardholder on his Chevron account. When we divorced, he had my name removed from his account, and the card was destroyed. Chevron sent confirmation of this. It was cancelled two years ago. However, when i pulled my credit report, I see that this account is still on my profile, it is listed as open and current. The limit is $1500, but the balance is $1600. This is adversely affecting my credit. I called Chevron and informed them of this, and they said that there is no account open with my name/ SSN on it. How do I go about getting this corrected? Is it b/c the card is still open under my ex that it is showing on my credit report? Does he have to close this in order to rectify the situation? Should I send the letter of cancellation from Chevron to the credit bureaus? Or is this still Chevrons problem?
Thanks ahead of time, especially to Mr. Stein, who has been so helpful.
