If you need any legal advice, you need an attorney. Paralegals are not trained to give proper legal advice. They are by law only allowed to fill out forms. They are not even allowed to tell you how to fill the forms out, since that would be legal advice. I suggest that you hire an attorney to do this to make sure that everything is done properly.

An attorney must draft, file and serve a petition. Please call me directly at (619) 222-3504.

Your really need to see an attorney to assist you through the adoption process. I understand that a paralegal may be cheaper but remember "you get what you pay for", and a paralegal can not give you the legal advice you need, or represent you in court. I would be happy to discuss your needs further regarding adopting your grandchild.

A paralegal might be able to help you, but may also cause you more problems than you can imagine. An attorney on this is not that expensive, maybe a few hundred dollars more than a paralegal. Find a good attorney. Good Luck, Pat McCrary

There are several things that need to be known before you can determine how complicated the adoption will be. Will the mother consent to the adoption. If you have to force her to give you the child you are in for a very expensive and frustrating ordeal. Where is the father? Was she married to him? Is he on the birth certificate? Even if he is not you have to deal with the fathers rights. This is far too complicated for a paralegal. What county do you reside in? You may call me for a free consultation and I can give you more information on what and how to do this. (800) 955-9504 Or you may email me directly. John A. Giffen, Adoption Attorney
