Legal Question in Family Law in California

adopting our grandson

Our grandson has lived with us since he was 3 1/2 mo.old. My husband and I have had(through the court) legal guardianship for almost 5 years. There has been no communication from his mother (our daughter) in 2 1/2 years and his father in over 3 years. They both have contributed nothing to his support. We support him totally physcially, emotionally and financially. We have not accepted any financial aid for him. We want to adopt him to insure that we can direct who will care for him should anything happen to us. It would also be beneficial because he can only then be added on to our insurance and dental plans.I would like him to know his parents someday but only time will tell.. We do not know where his mother is. Can you please tell me what our chances would be for adoption would be like and what would be involved ?

Thankyou so much for your time.

Re: adopting our grandson

While an adoption is never a sure thing, absent consent of the natural parents. This case would seem to present the strong likelihood of a successful adoption petition. My rates are very reasonable and I am available for a free consultation.
