Legal Question in Family Law in California

Adoption

I need answers to adoption laws. Without my knowledge, my daughter gave up my first grandchild for adoption recently in the State of California. My granddaughter was born on May 1, 2001. Is there anything I can do about this? Am I able to adopt her? Please help me if you can for I am devastated!

Re: Adoption

California law does not require that grandparents be given notice of adoption. Has the child already been placed? If it is in a foster home and no consent has been signed, you can contact child services and offer to take the child in. Is this an independent or agency adoption? If so, you may at least be able to contact the adoptive parents through the attorney or agency and see if the parents are open to visitation or letters/photos.
