Legal Question in Family Law in California

After adoption is final

Our daughter's adoption was made final last October and we have since received her amended birth certificate listing my husband and I as her parents. We recently changed medical insurance plans, and her new pediatrician wants a copy of the court order and will not accept her birth certificate. Do I have to provide this? I feel that the details of her adoption are private and not the doctor's business. The birth certificate should be enough as we are her ''legal'' parents. Please advise whether and why the doctor needs to see the court order. Thank you so much for your help.

Sincerely,

Re: After adoption is final

The adoption is final and the birth certificate should be sufficient. You may want to try another doctor. Adoption files are confidential and can be revealed only by court order.
