Legal Question in Family Law in California

adoption

I am married. my husband and I have been a couple since I was 2 months pregnant with my daughter. I do not know who her biological father is. He is the only daddy she knows. He would like to adopt her. How do we do this? we were told the D.A. would exhaust all resources in finding her biological father. How can they do this if I do not know who this person is?
