Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am an adult, unmarried father-to-be in California willing to take responsibility for my child. The child's mother is an adult 22-year-old dependent (whose parents are heavily influencing, if not forcing, her actions) who may pose a flight risk to another state, possibly Arizona or Ohio. What are my rights in challenging for custody should she either attempt to or actually leave the state? The child is due on January 24, 2010.
