adultery

I need to know if in the state of california there is still a law against adultery

whether people fight for it or not, i need to know if it is still illegal in this state to commit adultery and if so, what is the punishment for that crime, also is it current today and if not when did it stop being current....thank you --name removed--lawson

As far as I know, it is no longer a crime. Whether it is "illegal" depends on the facts and circumstances. If, for example, someone uses deceit and lies to lull a husband into a false sense of security, so they can get to his wife, there might be a tort of loss of consortium, intentional infliction of emotional distress, or fraud.
