Legal Question in Family Law in California
Can't afford to file for my divorce and have been separated since July 2009... Husband said he'd "take care of me" for a year. Now says he will close our Joint account and I will get very little to cover rent and things. I have our 3 children in residence. Can he close our account and if he does when we finally get this to court, will this work in my favor with a judge when it comes time to settle? I have been an at-home mother for the past 8 years and because of his job I am unable to find something that doesn't require more schooling.

You need a lawyer right away. You can file for divorce for very little money. If your husband has money and income and you do not, he can be forced to pay for the costs, including probably your attorneys fees. He also must pay support for the children. Please call me or another Family Law attorney right away to prevent him from hiding money or taking money that you have a right to. I don't care if you call me, or another attorney. Just call someone, so he does not get away with taking money that belongs to you.
