The Courts never allow the minor to choose where they want to live. The Court may order the child to be interviewed by the mediator or the judge may meet with the child themself. They also may order a 730 evaluation of the family (a psychological evaluation), but these are really expensive. The Court also may appoint an attorney for the child (the parents pay for this). In any event, it's not as easy as the child saying they want to live with the other parent. The Court looks at the child's reason for wanting to move. The Judge will listen to the child's wishes, but will ultimately make a decision based on what he/she feels is in the best interest of the child.
