alimony to felon

does one have to pay alimony to a soon to be ex spouse even though that spouse has been convicted of felony embezzlement 2 times once in 1998 then again in 1999,went to jail once, during a long term marriage, i knew nothing, the spouse made the most money during 20 yr. marriage.

Spousal support is based on need. One who is in prison would seem to have very little need. If the spouse is in prison for domestic violence then by law he is not entitled to spousal support.
