Alimony laws & Changing Divorce Filings

My husband and I filed for divorce in October 2004 and we did the summary of disolution of marriage to make things easier on both of us. I was a full time student and worked only part time during the 1 1/2 yrs we were married and now that we are getting divorced I am finding it difficult to support myself so I had to drop out of school and get a full time job and have moved back home and am now living with my dad. I was wondering if there is anyway I can change the filing status of our divorce to get alimony from my husband. We were together for 6 yrs. prior to getting married and throughout the course of our relationship he consistently made twice as much as I did. I am just looking for a way for me to be able to finish college since I cannot do it now that I am on my own. Thanks!

My expectations are that alimony chances may be quite slim and if ordered, likely, not long term, but possible. You can file papers, ask for an order to show cause hearing, file financial declarations, etc. Must file, serve, etc., all within time requirement, etc.
