Legal Question in Family Law in California
alimony modification
My husband and I divorced six months ago and I have been receiving alimony from him each month. He just informed me that he has been layed off from his job and he has asked if I would agree to one more month of alimony and then he would stop. He would like me to sign an agreement instead of him having to go to court and pay more attorney fees. I understand that the court would most likely agree that he would be able to stop alimony payments based on his situation, but my question is I would like to know that once he got a new job, would I qualify for alimony from him again since I'm entitled to four years? And if that is the case, would the best advice be for him and I to go to court to have these terms agreed upon?

The concept may be sound, but be sure to have the paperwork reviewed by an experienced family law lawyer BEFORE you sign it.
Good luck to you!
