Legal Question in Family Law in California

Alimony Question

My wife and I have been married for 23 years. We have both worked throughout the marriage, both at relatively high paying career jobs. Two years ago she took a new job with good future potential but had to take a signifigant initial pay cut (60% cut), however within four years of beginning (two years from now) she wil make signifigantly more than in the original job and far more than I. Am I entitled to alimony? We live in California.

Re: Alimony Question

Maybe. Not enough info provided re: marital standard of living and your ability to live at the marital standard of living on your own income.

The cut in pay to "invest" in future high return from job does raise an interesting question, though, of property division. Should the community be reimbursed for the lost pay? Not sure of any cases on point, but it should be considered.
