Legal Question in Family Law in California

alimony

My wife is considered disabled by her doctors but wasn't awarded disability by the State of Calif. She does not work(or refuses to) Will I have to pay more than is equitable for alimony- i.e. all her insurance and medical for the rest of her life in addition to alimony? My friends tell me that I will be ''taken to the cleaners'' because we have been married 40 years. I don't feel that I should have to pay extra because her doctors tell her she's disabled. I feel that she can still work but she refuses to drive or take responsibility for herself. Please advise. Thank you.

Reply: alimony

You may have to prove her ability to work, so that the court will impute income to her.

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
