Legal Question in Family Law in California
If I amend my legal separation to a divorce, am I required to serve my soon-to-be ex with a copy of the amendment? And if so, how long do they have to respond to the amended petition?

Mr. McCormick is right. You have to serve them, and they have 30 days to respond. The thirty days runs from the date that service is "complete" which varies depending on the manner of service.
