Legal Question in Family Law in California

Annulment and its implications

My husband and I filed for annulment but was told that we had to wait 6 months and then finalize it. We never finalized it.

What is our legal status at this point? Single, Separated? Also if we were to later finalize it, would we need to finalize the annulment or file for divorce since we didn't finalize the annulment after 6 months? Your answers to my questions are greatly appreciated.
