Legal Question in Family Law in California

Appeal to adjust child support amount

I and my wife agreed on the dissolution and the file was submitted to court and will be finalized soon. Now i lost my job so i can not pay the child support amount and will not be able to pay spousal support once the dissolution of my marriage is finalized by court.

What should i do ? can i appeal to court to make the adjustment? cna i eliminate the child support now because now i make less ( unemployement benefit )than my wife income?

Thanks for your advise.

Best regards

Re: Appeal to adjust child support amount

You can bring a motion for modification of the child support based upon a change of circumstances. You should file that motion immediately and the modification cannot be effective until you file the motion. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
