appealing a child custody case

i am adopting 2 boys from foster care the judge granted legal guardianship a year ago the county lawyer said it is in appeals now she is no longer with the county and the new lawyer has not made her self known could/should i get an attorney of my own to do the appeal the bio parents have not been seen or heard from after the court date or can i do this on my own i just want to adopt my boys

yes an attorney qualified to do adoptions would be your best bet for handling the court matter. Remember a pro per is still held to knowledge with the rules of court at a court hearing.
