Legal Question in Family Law in California

When I was in the army I gave up custody of my two girls and let my ex wifes husband adobt them so that they would have the last name as him. My question now is, is there some way I can get back some sort of visitation rights?

No. You could have retained visitation rights as a condition of consent to the adoption, but you missed your chance. There might be some way to reopen the case, but not likely and it would be very expensive just to investigate and research whether there is a way or not, that's before even doing anything about it.
