Legal Question in Family Law in California
I asked my ex-husband to sign a passport application for our daughter in October 2009. The form needs to be notarized, which I offered to pay. After several unsuccessful attempts, I had my attorney send his attorney a request to sign the passport by a specific date so that I could purchased plane tickets to visit my sister and her family in Singapore over spring break. His attorney stated that my ex-husband would sign the application and have it to me no later than Feb 5, 2010. The application never came. Is there a way to get an ex-spouse to sign a passport application for international vacations? Or is my daughter, who is now 11, not free to leave the country until she is 18? My ex does not travel at all so my guess is he doesn't feel our daughter needs to travel either. There is no threat of me fleeing the jursidiction with our daughter.

You can get a court order that he sign it. Then if he doesn't you can ask that he be held in contempt of court.
