No attorney can tell you what you must do without seeing the papers that have been filed. See an attorney, now! If all else fails tell the judge at trial you want one half of the pension, the judge will probably divide the pension, if it is community property. If the judge does not divide the pension, it is an omitted asset and the court may still have jurisdiction to divide the pension at a later date. You will need a Qualified Domestic Relations Order to divide the pension. Many family law attorneys do not prepare them, so I don't see how you will get by without an attorney on this one, unless his attorney is very cooperative.
