Legal Question in Family Law in California

I filed for divorce in January 2007. We have been separated in then. I would like to buy a house now (August 2007). Can my soon to be ex-husband take that away somehow or have any hold over it new purchase?

No, but be careful. Are you taking money that could be considered community property money to use to purchase the home? If you are using money from a source that is indisputably separate property, he will have no claim. If the money use is community property money, if you don't have a way to reimburse the money that you used, he could either force you to sell the house or somehow maintain an interest in it.
