Attorney Left me out to dry
My divorce was finalized last Thursday. There was supposed to be a mutual exchange that day as well. I was to hand over the last settlement check in the amount of $10,000 to my ex. Then my ex was supposed to hand over 2 original grant deeds to 2 properties. my ex signed the final judgment that morning in his attorney's office and I did the same at my attorney's office. My ex was to drive over to my attorney's office and do the exchange. Neither attorney was present for this. My attorney appointed her assistant for this. My ex pretty much ran off with the checks and original grant deeds and did not hand them over. In the meantime, my ex's attorney has been trying to get his client to drop those original deeds off. In the meantime, I got very upset at my attorney because I felt her office was negligent. I confronted her about why they mishandled the case and she became very verbally abusive towards me and threatened me. then she said that she would send me another invoice when she gave me her word that I wouldnt see another invoice . Does she have an obligation to finish the loose ends of this now that all parties have signed the final judgment? how can I get my ex's attorney to talk to me and hand over those grant deeds to me

The real culprit in your ex, not your attorney. It would appear that neither attorney expected him to act in this manner. This procedure was selected to save the cost of escrow fees. The attorney for your ex does not have the deeds. Send him a letter stating that unless he delivers the deeds to you within 5 days, you will file an OSC in Re Contempt, and ask for him to pay your attorney fees for this action. You should either come to an agreement with your attorney or retain another attorney to help you with this problem.
