Legal Question in Family Law in California

Attorney Represtation vs. None

My husband served me with divorce court papers (sueing me) and I do not have funds to acquire an attorney, however is there anyone who can take a look at the documents to explain them to me before I sign them? What is an average cost of lawyer fees?

Call the local bar association and enquire about a free consultation. You do not need to sign the summons or petition. If there are documents expected to signed it is something more than the petition. Also you have only 30 to file a response to the petition. The response requires you signature. Don/t sign anything until you talk to an attorney.
