Legal Question in Family Law in California

Auto Insurance

My husband and I are working through a divorce, and are currently separated.

There is a car, which I have in my possession, that is in his name, and that was on a joint insurance policy.

Is it a breach of the restraining order for me to obtain my own insurance policy on me and the vehicle and indemnify him for any liabilites on the other policy? Do i have to get his written permission to do this?

Re: Auto Insurance

It is a violation of the automatic restraining orders stated in the Summons to change the insurance policy unless you have his written consent or get a court order.

But why would this be to your benefit? I think it would make more sense to just get your divorce completed, then you are free to change the insurance and don't need to worry about indemnification.
