Legal Question in Family Law in California

I don't want my baby's father to pay child support, but I want him on the birth certificate. How do I ensure that the court doesn't require him to pay child support if he is on the birth certicate?

That's not the way it works. Courts don't do anything on their own, they only order child support when someone requests it and there are but two possibilities: (1) you file a court action requesting child support; or (2) you receive public benefits (e.g. AFDC) and the County paying out those benefits then files a court action seeking child support as reimbursement.

Mr. Greene is right, and that is the reason you cannot waive child support rights. They belong to the child and the state, not you.
