In December of 1986 I filed for child support through the DAs office, I had my two children for 11 years and I never recieved any money. I've contacted the DAs office through the years to no avail. Now last week when i got ahold of them they told me they did not start keeping records untill 1989 and that I was out of luck and their was nothing I could do not even refile could yu tell me if this is true. Thank you

Re: Back child support
Do you have a child support court order? The court should have made a support order in 1988. You should get that order and take it to an attorney to discuss the possibilities of collecting it. Depending on the age of the children and other factors there may be a problem with the statute of limitations on the judgment and other possible defenses.
If you determine that the judgment is collectible, then determine how much of that order has been paid. You can collect the unpaid support plus 10% interest.
