Legal Question in Family Law in California

Back Child Support

My mother and father have been divorced since I have been 5 months old. My father does not pay child support and I was wondering if it is at all possible to go ahead and take him to court and collect back child support and get him to pay child support that is currently due.

Re: Back Child Support

Your mother can go in to collect back support if there has been a court order. She can also modify that order to current guidelines, which is much higher if you are still a minor or are age 18 and still a full time student in high school. It would be worth while talking to an attorney about representation because they will have several ways of collecting the back support. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
