Legal Question in Family Law in California

Back child support to the state-not to my children

My ex-wife went on welfare in 1992 for 2 years & told them I wasn't paying.

They waited 12 years to attach my wages, charging 25% interest the whole time.

I was never notified durint the 12 years. They want half of my wages & the IRS

wants a quarter. The child support goes to the state, not my kids (Which are

grown) Is there a time limit where for them to collect? I know the IRS has 10

years. I can't live on 25% of my salary & I need help to work this out. If they

notifyed me years ago, I would have paid them but now they want 31,000

dollars.

Thank-you

Re: Back child support to the state-not to my children

Your question relates to California law. You need to resubmit the question to CA not NM. If your case (judgment) came from NM then you need to say that; however, if your case (judgment) came from CA then you need to submit the question to a CA attorney.

Good Luck
