Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can you bankrupt a judgment?

Soon to be ex filed Chapter 7 in March, and included Judge's order to pay $2,500 of my attorney fees. How can I collect? I'm currently paying off his debt at $100/mo.

Re: Can you bankrupt a judgment?

Do I understand correctly: The bankruptcy judge ordered your ex to reimburse you $2,500 of your divorce attorney fees, which you already paid (and you wound up paying $100/month on some of his debts from the divorce court)? It sounds like you have an order you can enforce in various ways (and thus it is just a post-BK collections matter now). How best to collect on this type of debt depends on a number of factors, including whether the bankruptcy case has closed, his assets, whether he is working, etc. Feel free to call me directly to discuss the details and your options.
