Legal Question in Family Law in California
Bankruptcy/Refinancing
My fiance thinks now would be a good time to refinance from a 30 to 15 year loan. He would like to put me on title to include my income but after receiving the loan, remove me from title (he says so I won't have any liability). What is that all about? What difference does it make since we are getting married anyway? I am a little nervous since he filed for Chapter 7 a couple of years ago. It has all be cleared up but I don't want my credit harmed.

Slick. That means you'll be on the LOAN, but not on the title. Don't do it. You're not married, so certain legal rights do not apply (although there is In re Marriage of Rico).
Bottom line: what's in it for you?

He is trying to get you on the hook for the loan but the house will be all his. Listen to me carefully, he is trying to cheat you. it would be a mistake to marry him.
