Legal Question in Family Law in California

Battery charges based on inaccurate statement

My partner & I had a huge fight. Diring that fight we battled over a phone. The police were called. I don't recall most of the police report, & am very uncomfortable that the report does not fairly reflect the situation.

As a result of battered woman syndrome that historically follows cases of this nature, I've been told that I cannot follow up to make sure the facts are being considered.

The impact of a felony charge (regardless of conviction) on my partner is devastating & will result in losing 2 businesses & his medical license.

All over a fight for his cell phone! How can I get my statement heard? Can I request a lie detector test or any other proof that I was not attacked?

Re: Battery charges based on inaccurate statement

The best you can do is retain an attorney to represent him. Then work with that attorney to defeat the charges. Lie detectors are not reliable and the results cannot be used in court. Talking to the DA may do more harm than good.
