Calm down and take a deep breath. Custody motions are incredibly emotional, and stressful. That being said ask yourself is there any reason why the court would modify the current custody order ( I am assuming you are currently the primary custodian). Have you alienated the other parent? Have you recently been arrested? Have you placed the child in harms way? Is the minor child's welfare in jeopardy? Be honest with yourself. Remember the court bases custody on the best interest of the child, not the parents.
Now in Child Custody matters there usually is required mediation prior to the hearing. Every county is different though. Some are recommending counties, while others are not. There are some counties we call "three tier" counties (only a few practice this). I unfortunately have no experience in your county. Therefore I would not be able to represent you adequately in this matter.
For Family Law matters it is important to hire a local attorney as that knows the rules of your courthouse inside and out. I would recommend contacting your counties local bar association regarding an attorney referral as well. Last and most importantly try to relax. Remember to be calm, act reasonable, and have a parenting plan in place that is easily explainable to be the best interest of the child.
