Legal Question in Family Law in California

billing

I was wondering if someone could tell me if it was legal for a lawyer to bill you after the agreed upon amount was paid in full. The lawyer told me 2,000.00 total and I received a bill today for another 2,800.00! Can he do this?

Re: billing

You should check with your fee agreement for how the work is determined, if it was a flat fee or an hourly fee.

If you have questions, contact your local county bar and ask about fee disputes.

As always, please contact a qualified attorney prior to taking any legal action.

Good luck,
