Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am the only biological child of my Father. My Father passed away 3 years ago. I am 31 years old, my Mother and Father never married. My Father was cremated and I allowed his parents to pick up the ashes from the mortuary, I had to give a release as I am his next of kin. Here is the question....... his parents would not give me back the ashes so I allowed them to keep them at the house. I just found out that they intend to take my Fathers ashes and spread them somewhere in Arizona. I found out by accident. They had no intended on telling me... Is there something I can do to stop this? I dont have to have all the ashes, just some...

If you wanted to maintain control over the burial of your father, you should have never released his remains to his parents.
