Legal Question in Family Law in California
birth certificate without attachment after court-ordered name change?
I live in California and recently changed my name. Can a judge allow a birth certificate to reflect only the new name without an attachment? If so, should I write to him and ask him if he would be willing to do it? Also does anyone has any suggestions as to what I should write to convince him? Are there any previous cases or examples I could give him?
Thanks

Re: birth certificate without attachment after court-ordered name change?
You would have to convince the Judge to Order the birth certificate to be changed. I dont think a Judge will do that or even can do that in a name change.
What name did you change to? Your mothers maiden name? Step-fathers name? or ? It is possible to get a new birth certificate with a new name by going through an adoption. If you are an adult the procedure is almost as simple as a name change. In an adoption the name can be anything you want, the original birth certificate is sealed and the new birth certificate is the only one available.
