Legal Question in Family Law in California
first born child support
my ex girlfriend took off with our son when he was 6 months old. he is now 13. She has been moving all around. I recently recieved paperwork for child support since he was born. I have not seen my son since he was 6 month old. What options do I have.

Re: first born child support
If it is an Arizona case, child support should only be able to back 3 years (and NOT to the child's birth). If she has started the case in another state, I would question whether that state even has the right to order ANY support, since you are an Arizona resident.
You certainly have the right to seek to establish and then maintain a relationship with the child, and can even (at some point) ask for primary custody, if the circumstances warranted such.
I can explain the procedures better by phone or in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via e'mail. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.
Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Audrey to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation. I look forward to talking with you.

If you have an order you need to have the order reviewed by an attorney in the state where the order was made. If you have no order contact an attorney local to you to see what the law is with respect to the child support request. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
