Legal Question in Family Law in California

Business owner hiding income to avoid increase in child support

I'm the single Mom of a 5yr old Son. I'm the Custodial Parent with Sole/Legal Custody. The father, owns his own Business & is not being forthcoming about his income. He keeps two sets of books. I'm in the process of modifying child support. My attorney is not being aggressive enough. The father is stating his monthly income is $12,000. He is currently paying $8700 to his ex-wife & children (4)& to me $750/month. He has an apartment here in CA & pays at least $1,000/month no less, a Car note on a SUV & is living nicely.I know his income is being hidden somehow. I don't know what to do. I'm getting very frustrated. I know $750/month is good for 1 child but based on his income it's not fair & on top of it he voluntarily increased the ex wife's support by $2,000/month about 2 yrs ago while I have not had an increase since my first support case about 5 years ago. Now I'm unemployed (lost my job 3 months ago) & I don't want to disrupt my Son's life. I promise you I'm not being greedy for if I were I would have asked for more money years ago. At 5 yrs old, clothes, keeping a boy busy & fed takes more money.I'm desperate. Are there any attorneys that do Pro-Bono work in this category or just Criminal & high profile cases.

Even if an attorney were to offer to do the work for free, it would require you to spend money. You would most likely need a forensic accountant. Would the ex wife help you?
