Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can my Ex buy me out of his future Retirement benifits?

Can I relinquish my rights to my ex's retirement benifits for a one time ''buy-out''? I'm pretty sure that I kept my rights to these benefits and that they were not included in our final divorce settlement. Asking my original divorce lawyer is not an option, and I desperately need to know the answer before I approach my ex.

Thank you.

Yes, you can, however, before doing so, you should first obtain an actuarial evaluation so you know the value of the interest you are waiving.

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
