Legal Question in Family Law in California

In A Buy Out Situation

My ex says that even though the business is being valued at the date of separation in 2003, the house is being valued for its current value. Why aren't both the business and the house valued at the same date? (I have the 2003 home appraisal documents, including comps.)

The divorce was granted in 2006, but a settlement hasn't been reached.

Re: In A Buy Out Situation

Assets are valued as of date of trial. In certain circumstances, in the discretion of the judge, assets may be valued as the date of separation. You should be listening to your own attorney, not your ex, for legal advice. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
