In California: What is the age of consent that a teenager (16 going on 17) has to decide to live with one parent over another?

18. Until then, the teen has a right to be heard in court if either parent seeks a change in custody, but unless a parent initiates a motion to change, the teen has no rights until 18, and even the right to be heard is only heard, not to decide. The court or the parents by agreement make the decision until the child is 18.
