California age requirements

We have a 11 year old that wants to live with his father instead of his mother. What age can he be to decide this? Id there any way to get this resolved with out it costing us a fortune?

When is child is old enough to make a mature reasoned decision, the court will consider that choice along with several other factors. Don't give your child the idea that he has any power over you or his father. If you and his father think you son should spend more time with his father, then enter into a written stipulation and file it with the court. If you're in Orange County you can schedule a mediation appointment through the court. It's free and they will help with the paperwork.
