california name change for minor with consenting parents

I would like to change my sons last name to my own. Both parents consenting, I am on the birth certificate and we both live in the same county. What is required to do this?

a simple petition you file with the court. you can get the forms from the court clerk. you can get a lawyer to do it but it is not hard to do yourself.
