Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am in California, and my child is about to turn 18. She graduated high school, but still lives at home and will be going to school full-time (not working). Non-custodial parent refuses to contribute anything to her support once she reaches her 18th Birthday. Court order does not have an end date for support. Is it possible to get court ordered support while she is still living at home and going to college?

Not likely. The law says support ends once the child has both turned 18 and is no longer attending high school full time either by graduating or quitting, OR the child turns 19 regardless of school status. So it is automatic regardless of the order. Exceptions are only granted on specific motion for a special support order due to special circumstances. Special circumstances are generally limited to situations where the parents have extremely different income and one is VERY wealthy, or the child has special needs due to physical and/or intellectual disabilities that prevent them from being a self supporting adult.
